2023 Mazda CX-30
The 2023 CX-30 is the smallest crossover in the Mazda lineup. Fitting into the subcompact SUV class, it boasts a cabin with seats for five people and approximately 20 cubic feet of cargo storage behind the rear row. If you ever need to transport bulkier items, you can fold down the second row of seats to open up around 45 cubic feet of space.
The base engine is a four-cylinder unit capable of putting out 191 horsepower. It’s paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, providing plenty of power for daily driving. If you regularly carry a full load of passengers or want to accelerate more rapidly to highway speeds, you may want to upgrade to the optional turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It generates 227 horsepower with regular gas or 250 horsepower with premium fuel. Regarding fuel economy, the base engine manages 33 mpg on the highway, while the turbocharged unit gets 30 mpg.
The CX-30’s infotainment system includes an 8.8-inch display and eight-speaker stereo, which are impressive for the subcompact crossover class. Connectivity options in the base setup include two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. You also get a Wi-Fi hotspot and voice recognition. If you want to add upgraded features, you can choose a 12-speaker premium stereo and a navigation system that helps you find new destinations. Wireless device charging is also available.
2023 Mazda CX-5
The next step up in size is the Mazda CX-5. This compact crossover offers over 30 cubic feet of storage at the rear, which should be enough for your luggage for a weekend trip or short vacation. Folding down the rear row gives you almost 60 cubic feet of space. The two-row cabin offers enough space for adults to sit anywhere comfortably, and you can also install child seating in the rear row. Cloth upholstery comes standard, but you can upgrade to leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
The CX-5’s powertrain consists of a 187-horsepower four-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. As with the CX-30, all-wheel drive is standard. You can opt for a similar version of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine that’s available in the CX-30. The CX-5 puts out slightly more power with premium fuel, achieving 256 horsepower. The CX-5 can manage 30 mpg on the highway with its base engine, dropping to 27 mpg if you opt for the turbocharged unit.
The infotainment features include a big 10.2-inch touch screen and a four-speaker stereo. You can connect your devices with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB ports. Other standard features include a Wi-Fi hotspot and HD radio. If you want some more performance from your entertainment equipment, you can select a six-speaker or 10-speaker stereo, a navigation system, and wireless device charging.
2023 Mazda CX-50
The Mazda CX-50 has similar interior proportions to the CX-5, with 31 cubic feet of storage at the rear and just over 56 cubic feet with the second row down. The notable difference is in its design, which appears a bit more rugged and adventurous than the CX-5. The powertrain options are the same, with the base engine churning out 187 horsepower, while the upgraded turbocharged unit makes 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque with premium fuel.
The CX-50’s entertainment equipment includes an 8.8-inch screen and an eight-speaker stereo. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, as well as USB ports, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. You can upgrade to a 10.25-inch screen, a 12-speaker stereo, and a navigation system.
2023 Mazda CX-9
If you need a third row, the CX-9 is the vehicle for you. It can seat up to seven people or six if you choose the second-row captain’s chairs. Behind the third row, you’ll have about 14 cubic feet of space, which is enough for a modest load of groceries. The first two rows are ideal for adult passengers, while the more compact third row suits kids or teenagers. There’s only one engine option in the CX-9: the turbocharged unit that’s optional in all the other SUVs. It puts out 227 horsepower with regular gas and 250 horsepower with premium fuel.
The CX-9’s infotainment system is already well equipped in its base setup. You get a 10.25-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, and wireless device charging. When it comes to connectivity, you can use Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, or the four USB ports on offer. Voice recognition and a Wi-Fi hotspot are also standard. You can add two USB ports for the third row, a navigation system, and a 7-inch digital gauge cluster to easily monitor your CX-9’s performance.
