Where to bring the kids this Halloween in Fort Worth, TX

Spooky season is officially upon us, and Fort Worth has some great family-friendly attractions to help get you in the holiday spirit. Explore some of the area’s top attractions at your favorite Fort Worth sites like the zoo, the science and history museum, and the water gardens. Whether you’re looking for season-specific fun or a festive and safe place to go for the holiday itself, we’ve got you covered.

Boo at the Zoo

Kids and parents will love this annual event at the Fort Worth Zoo. Hosted the Friday through Sunday before Halloween, Boo at the Zoo features treat stations, special shows, and, of course, lots of exotic and exciting animals to visit. Wear your best costumes and enjoy Halloween with all the great animals at the Fort Worth Zoo. You can see all your favorite attractions, like the African Savanna, where you’ll see exciting creatures like ostriches, giraffes, and springboks. In this area, you’ll see the Hippo River, with both above- and below-ground viewing.

There’s lots more to explore at the zoo, so be sure to mark your calendar. Come see the zoo’s newest giraffe addition, Pele, who was born earlier this summer. Visitors can also see Sunny the red wolf, a 10-year-old male who lives in the Pineywoods and Swamps area of the zoo.

Ick or Treat

The Fort Worth Museum of Nature and Science is another great place to go this Halloween. They’re hosting Ick or Treat from noon to 2 p.m. on Oct. 31. Families can wear their costumes to this creepy crawly event and take part in fun activities and games, like a scavenger hunt filled with yummy treats. Ick or Treat also features time to make special Halloween-themed crafts. Kids can have fun learning and playing all afternoon.

Hall’s Pumpkin Farm and Corn Maze

Every year, Hall’s Pumpkin Farm celebrates the fall harvest by inviting community members to visit their pumpkin patch and corn maze. Families can take hay rides, try their luck at the giant corn maze, and choose the perfect jack-o’-lantern-to-be from the selection of pumpkins and gourds. Family-owned since 1929, the Hall Farm celebrates a rich history of farming. The daughter of Jess Hall, who originally purchased the land, still lives on the remaining 45 acres of undeveloped property with her husband, their children, their children’s spouses, and all their grandchildren.

Hall’s Farm is rich in family tradition, and you’ll love exploring all they’ve built over the last near century. The farm is located in nearby Grapevine, Texas, which rests conveniently between Dallas and Fort Worth. You’ll be quick to make a visit to the pumpkin patch a yearly tradition for your family. Spooktacular Drive-Thru Halloween Event

The health care professionals at Medical City North Hills are putting on a contactless drive-thru Halloween event for the second year in a row. The event is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. Enjoy drive-thru trick or treating, music, an employee pumpkin carving contest, and more, all from your vehicle. This is a free event.

Cutting Edge Haunted House

For those with older kids who feel up to the chills and thrills of a haunted house, check out Cutting Edge Haunted House. This Fort Worth house is filled with terrifying special effects, live actors, and multiple stories for long-lasting entertainment. Kids over 12 are allowed in, but be sure they’re up for the scare! It can be intense inside for those caught unaware. As one of the largest haunted houses in the country, there’s lots to see inside. It takes most people a little under an hour to complete the full tour of the house.

You can visit the haunted house after its opening on Sept. 30. It’s open weekends from the end of September through the beginning of November. It’s usually good practice to get your tickets online, because they can sell out fast.

Halloween K-POP Random Dance Party

This all-ages event is a great place to show off your costume and dance moves. Held at the Fort Worth Water Gardens, you can attend the event on Oct. 29. The Water Gardens are a 5.4-acre space filled with beautiful pools and cascading fountains. Typically, a place for quiet reflection, the Water Gardens are transforming to house one of the most memorable events of the Halloween season. You won’t want to miss it.

Ghosts of Fort Worth Tour

This tour is a great way to get into the spooky Halloween spirit. It’s a great activity for families and children of all ages. The Ghosts of Fort Worth Tour is a walking tour that takes families around Fort Worth, introducing you to its rich history and haunted past. The ghost tour is not only kid friendly, it’s pet friendly too. You’ll spend the evening with a knowledgeable and engaging local guide, who can show you the ins and outs of Fort Worth’s spooky past.

One of the places you’ll see on your tour is the Haunted Jett Building, also called the Chisholm Trail Building. It’s a three-story structure that many believe holds tortured spirits from the past. Even though it has a prime location downtown, the stores and businesses that use the Jett Building never seem to last very long. Many owners over the years swear their bad business was a direct result of the haunting souls that occupy the space. Go see for yourself if the building is truly haunted on this fun and spooky tour.
