Six Flags Over Texas Holiday in the Park

Six Flags Over Texas holds an annual holiday event known as Holiday in the Park. It’s an occasion beloved by locals, and families are welcome to enjoy Christmas lights and festivities against a theme park backdrop. The event starts on Nov. 19, 2022, and runs through Jan. 1, 2023. Hours vary daily, but you can conveniently find out the opening and closing hours for the park on their website or by calling ahead.

Ticket prices also vary, and pricing information is available on the website. You can choose from a one-day pass for the whole family or take advantage of a seasonal pass so you can return to the park as often as you like.

Six Flags Over Texas uses over one million LED lights to create atmospheric effects for its rides and park sections. There are also plenty of Christmas trees and themed decorations to transform the park into a winter wonderland. The rides also get a holiday makeover to make you feel like you’re at the north pole instead of Texas. Make sure to check out the live entertainment that covers classic shows, and stop a moment to listen to groups of carolers as they deliver warm harmonies and seasonal cheer.

GM Financial Parade of Lights

The GM Financial Parade of Lights is presented by General Motors and is held from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Nov. 20, 2022. The parade is in its 40th year in 2022, and you can be sure that it will be a spectacle of lights, glitz, and glamour, Texas-style, as it makes its way through downtown Fort Worth.

The festivities start at the corner of Weatherford and Throckmorton Streets, make multiple turns through downtown streets, and finish up on Third and Throckmorton. Line up early to view the floats, marching bands, carriages with local celebs, performing acts, and much more.

Families can make an all-day event out of the parade by coming down to see the Fort Worth Christmas tree, shopping in the downtown area, checking out the new stores, and taking a ride on the Trinity Metro TEXRail service. After shopping, get some hot chocolate or a meal for comfort and warmth as you await the parade’s start. You’ll be able to make great memories as everyone watches the spectacle of more than 100 brightly lit entries go by.

Enchant Christmas

Enchant Christmas bills itself as the largest Christmas light maze and village, and it’s hard to argue with that statement when you enter the event. It’s presented by the Hallmark Channel and is located at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. The event opens on Nov. 25th and runs through Jan. 1st.

General admission starts at $34 for adults, $20 for children three to 17, and $31 for seniors and the military. Children under two are admitted for free. Enchant Christmas is made up of multiple activities, so make sure that everyone has some pep in their step to keep up and see everything there is to offer, including Santa Claus.

The sections in the event include a light tunnel maze full of larger-than-life statues and displays, as well as plenty of stops for pictures and selfies. It’s centered around a giant Christmas tree that puts on light shows and makes for a great meeting spot. The ice rink allows you to glide around on skates with an incredible backdrop, and you and your family can stop for treats and eats in the village section. The village also features local artisans and crafters offering unique goods you can pick up for Christmas presents.

WCRA Cowtown Christmas Championship Rodeo

The Cowtown Coliseum plays annual host to the WCRA Cowtown Christmas Championship Rodeo from Dec. 15th to 18th. Events start nightly at 7:00 p.m. and run until all events are finished. The event is the final leg of the triple crown of WCRA rodeo events and pays out over $400,000 in prize money that’ll be divided among the events. The rodeo is a great event for families to watch man and horse work together in pursuit of barrels, roping steer, and riding broncs and bulls until the bell rings.

The rodeo is an homage to the cattle industry that’s still going strong in the region even though most use modern machinery instead of horses for maintaining herds. Cowboys and cowgirls showcase their best four-legged athletes at the rodeo in the hope of winning some prize money for their efforts. Anyone who wins the Christmas Championship and two other major WCRA rodeos can earn a million-dollar payday, which means you and your family get to watch the best of the best compete.
