Maiden Fine Plants & Spirits enjoys the distinction of being the first entirely vegan restaurant in North Texas. This fine dining establishment is more than just a restaurant; it’s a thoughtfully curated experience. The restaurant serves a seasonal tasting menu that is carefully assembled for you and consists of six to eight courses, so you don’t have to worry about what to order. Reservations are strongly recommended, as Maiden is fully booked most nights. Due to the refined nature of the dining experience, Maiden doesn’t allow children under the age of 13 for dinner, but they can attend Saturday teatimes.

Though you won’t know what your meal will include exactly, you can rest assured that it’s all cruelty-free and entirely vegan. Even the extensive drink menu is vegan from top to bottom. You can drop in for a beverage without the full dinner experience or sip on a cocktail while you wait for your table. For a sweet treat, consider the Honey Bunny, made with pollinator-friendly vegan honey, coffee liqueur, and vodka.

61 Osteria

Owner Adam Jones and chef Blaine Staniford are no strangers to successful Fort Worth restaurants, having opened both Grace and Little Red Wasp. With 61 Osteria, the duo ventured into fine Italian dining. This restaurant opened on the ground floor of the First National Bank building in early 2023 to high praise. At 61 Osteria, you’ll enjoy an abundance of house-made delights, from handmade pasta to fresh mozzarella and house ricotta cheese. Local farm-fresh eggs contribute to the rich flavor of the pasta, including tagliatelle, semolina, and rolled pasta.

The menu takes inspiration from all regions of Italy and focuses on highlighting local ingredients in each dish. While you will find some pasta entrees on the menu, this sophisticated new restaurant also branches out into other types of Italian fare, such as Windy Meadow chicken served with Yukon gold potatoes and cippolini onions or white bean and Toscano kale soup with grilled sourdough. You can even experience an Italian brunch featuring a semolina Dutch baby, scrambled egg bruschetta, house granola, and a battered mozzarella sandwich served with tomato sauce, Calabrian chilis, and baked eggs.

Brix Barbecue

Brix Barbecue got its start as an Airstream food truck run by pitmaster Trevor Sales. Sales put in ample time perfecting the art of the smoked Texas brisket and quickly became famous for the rich flavor of his barbecued meats. As the lines for the food truck climbed to two-hour waits, he realized he’d grown beyond his environment and set out to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Brix Barbecue was set to open its doors in March, 2023 but has been delayed due to renovations. Keep an eye out for its grand opening in the coming months.

Though fans of the food truck will easily recognize their favorite flavors at Brix Barbecue, the environment will be all new. You;ll be able to head up to the rooftop bar for a sunny alfresco lunch or order bulk brisket take-out for your own backyard barbecues.

Fireside Pies

Fireside Pies has locations in Dallas and Grapevine but only recently came back to the Fort Worth area. After a brief stint in the West Seventh neighborhood between 2010 and 2014, this local chain got a fresh start with its grand opening on Harrold Street in March 2023. The restaurant’s famous hand-tossed pizzas highlight unique flavor combinations.

The Cajun shrimp pizza is a spicy seafood feature with homemade spicy guacamole, ancho chile caciotta, peppadew peppers, red onions, and goat cheese to complement the shrimp flavor. The organic mushroom pie features a wood-fired mushroom blend, garlic cream sauce, arugula, goat cheese, and shallot vinaigrette for a gourmet flavor. Even the classic Hawaiian pizza gets an update here with jalapenos, basil, and reduced balsamic to bring out the flavors of the balsamic-roasted pineapple and prosciutto. You’re sure to find something tantalizing for your taste buds.

F1 Smokehouse

Currently a Clearfork food truck, F1 Smokehouse is in the process of transitioning to its own brick-and-mortar location. The restaurant will feature a selection of smokehouse favorites, including Texas-style beef brisket, dry-rubbed pork shoulder, sweet tea brined chicken, kalbi-style baby back ribs, jalapeno cheddar sausage, and vegan heirloom cauliflower. You’ll also be able to order signature dinners such as the Mississippi blackened catfish and chips, barbecue cheddar burger, and glazed smoked meatloaf.

For rich flavors, homestyle meal preparations, and satisfying comfort foods, F1 Smokehouse is the place to go. Save room to finish off your evening with a fine indulgence such as chocolate pudding mousse for the full experience.
