What New Models To Expect From Mazda In 2023?

Mazda has long been a reliable manufacturer of lightweight, fun-to-drive, affordable vehicles. It’s no surprise that the 2023 lineup consists of three new SUV models, two of which are improvements on past models, while the other is entirely new. 2023 SUV Models

Mazda SUVs have been improving each year, and 2022 saw several crossover successes, including a new iteration of the hugely popular CX-30. New SUV models set to be released in 2023 include the following:

Mazda CX-50

The CX-50 was the first to arrive, launching in November 2022. It’s a compact crossover SUV that’s noticeably inspired by other Mazda SUVs. It’s built on the same platform as the CX-30 SUV and Mazda 3 compact, meaning it’s a flexible yet athletic and hardy car.

The CX-50 also looks eerily similar to the CX-5, leading to some people speculating that the model is just an off-road version of the CX-5. However, the CX-50 is an entirely new model and is actually larger than the CX-5. It’s also made in Mazda’s Huntsville, Alabama, factory and is set to have a hybrid version later.

The Mazda CX-50 will have the following features:

• A 2.5-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with 187 horsepower.
• Panoramic moonroof.
• Up to 320 lb-ft of torque.
• Mazda intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) technology.
• Drive modes: normal, sport, and off-road, with available towing modes.
• i-Activ all-wheel drive.
• Six-speed automatic transmission.
• Two rows of seating for up to five passengers.

Mazda CX-5

The CX-5 will be re-released for 2023 with some enhancements. Higher-priced trims, such as the Premium, Premium Plus, and S Select, have been adorned with new features. Remarkably, the prices have more or less stayed the same as the 2022 predecessors. For instance, the new S Select has two USB ports, a standard power moonroof, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and dual-zone climate control.

The 2023 Premium trim, on the other hand, is less expensive than its 2022 version and more refined. Mazda CX-70

The CX-70 is touted to be a luxury SUV that’ll be larger and sleeker than the CX-5 and CX-50, which are the current luxury brands. The CX-70, set to launch sometime in 2023, will be based on a completely new platform and potentially feature a plug-in hybrid drivetrain.

There’s some speculation that the CX-70 will be an upgrade of the relatively successful CX-60. Indeed, the plug-in-hybrid version of the CX-70 will use the CX-60’s powertrain, which is, in fairness, incredibly powerful. However, the CX-70 is a futuristic car, built on a revolutionary longitudinal engine layout that gives it both rear and all-wheel-drive (AWD) functionality.

The CX-70 2024 model is expected to have the following specifications:

• A 2.5-liter six-cylinder gasoline engine with a 48V hybrid system and up to 300 horsepower.
• Eight-speed automatic transmission.
• Two rows of seating for up to five passengers.
• Exquisite interior upholstery includes woven textiles, wood trim, and high-quality leather.
• A 12.3-inch infotainment screen.

Mazda CX-90

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 is poised to replace the legacy CX-9 model and typifies Mazda’s ambition to be a top producer of spacious luxury SUVs. Production and release of the CX-90 are set to begin in 2023, and Mazda is keeping intricate details under wraps.

Nonetheless, the CX-90 will undoubtedly be an upgrade on all SUVs and crossovers that the company has released and will also be the most expensive Mazda model. The standard CX-90 will run on gasoline, although a plug-in hybrid will most likely be included. Like the CX-70, the CX-90 will have a longitudinal engine design, giving it considerable power and agility, and the new model-specific platform will boost its score in the ride comfort department.

The following are some of the features that are almost guaranteed to be included in the CX-90:

• A 3-liter six-cylinder engine with a 48V hybrid system. There will also be a plug-in hybrid variant with 323 horsepower.

Sedans

From the look of things, there’ll only be one new sedan/hatchback in 2023. This is understandable from Mazda’s point of view, as SUVs are more in demand in the U.S., their largest market. 2023 Mazda3

Despite being priced as a lower-end compact, the 2023 Mazda3 is testimony that Mazda hasn’t lost the art of making classy sedans.
