The Fort Worth Trinity Trails include over 100 miles of trails that connect 31 neighborhoods and 21 parks. These trails wind along the Trinity River and connect to numerous local highlights that give you the opportunity to hop off and enjoy a picnic, play at the park, or relax by a waterfall. Points of interest accessible via this trail system include:

  • Airfield Falls: This is the largest natural waterfall in Tarrant County.
  • Trinity Park: Circled by a 2.7-mile loop, this park features a miniature train ride and playgrounds.
  • Panther Island Pavilion: This venue features multiple waterfront stages that host festivals and concerts.

White Rock Lake

White Rock Lake covers 1,015 acres in a picturesque city park located northeast of downtown Dallas. The park features a 9.33-mile paved hiking and biking trail around the lake. Big Thicket Cabin is the most popular entry point along the trail. The park offers numerous amenities, including a dog park and picnic areas. The White Rock Lake Museum, Dallas Arboretum, and Bath House Cultural Center are located at White Rock Lake, as well, if you’d like to add local museums to your excursion.

Cedar Ridge Preserve

You’ll find 13 trails spanning a total of about 9 miles to choose from in Cedar Ridge Preserve, offering a wealth of options to change up your running routine. Leashed dogs are welcome. Cyclists are not permitted on these trails. Butterfly gardens and picnic areas dot the park amid plenty of natural habitats for native trees, grasses, birds, and animals.

Lone Wolf and The Dam Drop Trail

This trail loop is about 6 miles in length. Popular among walkers, hikers, runners, and mountain bikers, this diverse trail has something for everyone. You’ll find a scenic lake and beautiful landscaping, though you should keep your eyes to the trail, as well, with a few tricky drops to watch for. Dogs are welcome as long as they remain leashed.

Tandy Hills Nature Area

Just 3 miles from downtown Fort Worth, Tandy Hills transports you to a rugged countryside. From the hilltops, you can glimpse the city skyline, while lower points on the trail will make you feel like you’re a world away. This area is frequented less than other DFW parks, making it a great choice for peace and quiet. The trails in the park are continuously changing to allow older trails to heal and make room for new developments. Many of the park’s trails are moderate 2 mile loops.

Bachman Lake Park Trail

A 3.5-mile loop around Bachman Lake provides a scenic choice for a regular run. Located near the Love Field Airport, this trail also offers plenty of opportunities to watch aircraft. You’ll find a picnic shelter in the park if you want to take a break, as well as exercise stations for those interested in enhancing their workout.

Lakeside Park

Lakeside Park is a great pick if you want to take a stroller jog with little ones. This park features scenic views of the Turtle Creek Dam, the Read Memorial, and a cluster of teddy bear statues along the water. The park as a whole covers 14 acres along the creek, so there’s plenty of room for a picnic or romp in the grass, as well.

North Shore Trail

The North Shore Trail runs from Rockledge Park to Twin Coves Park, spanning around 9 miles. This is a one-way trail, so you’ll cover 18 miles if you go out and back. You can also easily choose shorter legs of the trail that hop between parks. Trailheads are located in Murrell Park, Rockledge Park, and Twin Coves Park. While Rockledge Park has an entrance fee, the others do not. You’ll find restrooms, picnic tables, grills, and pavilions located along the trail for your convenience. Leashed pets are welcome.

Crawford Memorial Trail

In Crawford Memorial Park, you’ll find a 2-mile loop that offers an easy run. The park also features soccer fields, baseball fields, a playground, and a picnic area. A wide range of natural areas in the park offer some tranquility, as well, making this a great pick when you want diversity in your scenery.

Glendale Park Trail

The Glendale Park Trail features two loops that total about 2 miles when run together. This arrangement makes it easy to adjust your run to add another mile here or there without getting too far off track. The park also features tennis courts, picnic areas, and a playground.
