Local artists in Fort Worth, TX

Fort Worth and the surrounding areas are home to a wide variety of talented artists. This is evidenced by the plethora of galleries in the area, including Artspace 111, the William Campbell Contemporary Art gallery, and Art on the Boulevard.

If you’re interested in supporting local artists in your area, there are many options that you can choose from. Pick a painting, find a photo, or even commission your own piece from one of these talented individuals. Tabitha Paige

Tabitha Paige does fine oil and watercolor paintings. Paige has been painting for more than 20 years, and her passion for fine art brings beauty and serenity to the home. Paige’s work is available through Tabitha Paige Studios as well as her company,   Fox Hollow Studios. 

Within Paige’s collection, you’ll find a variety of soothing paintings that feature quintessential Texas scenes such as bison, longhorn cattle, and cowboys. Using vast landscapes and muted colors, she creates images that are just right for any Fort Worth household.

Philip A. Ecton

Philip A. Ecton works in Fort Worth, and he creates bold abstract pieces by using non-linear algorithms. He uses an artful blend of random generation and his own personal input to create artwork that encourages open, thoughtful interpretation by the viewer. His goal is for viewers to walk away feeling inspired to create “media adding to the novel information content of humanity.”

Ecton also produces some paintings and drawings. You can see his abstract canvas prints at Art on the Boulevard in Fort Worth.

Kay Wirz

Kay Wirz creates acrylic and mixed-media paintings. Her most recent works feature abstract patterns, flat shapes, and complex color palettes. Her mixed media piece Nine Patch delivers a colorful patchwork of squares with depth and vibrancy. Other works like Sibling Song, which features a group of pigeons, are slightly less abstract.

Wirz has a bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Abilene Christian University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from North Texas University. She currently works in Granbury, Texas. Art on the Boulevard represents Wirz in Fort Worth and Art and Letters represent her in Granbury.

Greg Brown

Greg Brown takes a distinctive approach to his art, creating pieces with a very specific approach. He grew up in the Dallas area and worked at the local Neiman Marcus as a Men’s Designer Sportswear specialist from 1993 to 2001. During this time, he amassed a collection of Versace ties that were produced during Gianni Versace’s lifetime. These ties held a special place in Brown’s heart, as the late designer had a direct hand in their creation.

Brown found a unique way to honor Versace and showcase his tie collection: He created paintings that featured Versace tie patterns. For each painting, Brown took the pattern on a tie and expanded upon the design to turn it into a full canvas work of art. The completed paintings have the original ties permanently attached to them. Brown’s distinctive pieces have been featured in American Airlines’ Admirals Clubs in Chicago and Miami, the Ivantiques Gallery in Jerusalem, and the Galerie Beaute Du Matin Calme in Paris. Art on the Boulevard represents Brown in Forth Worth.

Jacque Manaugh

Jacque Manaugh is a talented photographer who began his career working in fine art photography. At the age of 16, he began working with a Nikon film camera and found a love of photography that has followed him throughout his career. At a young age, he began working with street portraits. Around 25, he started shadowing a wedding and event photographer and began working in this area. 

Manaugh has a passion for modern cinematic images and photojournalistic stylings that he brings to his projects. He has more than a decade of experience working in photography and has been featured as the Best of The Knot in 2018, 2019, and 2020. He also won the Wedding Wire Couple’s Choice Award in 2018 and 2019. Manaugh works primarily as a wedding photographer, but he does other photography projects as well. You can find Manaugh’s art on Etsy; he has a diverse collection that includes a variety of iconic Texas scenes and landscapes.

Betsy and Carl Crum

Betsy and Carl Crum work together to create distinctive photomontage art pieces that highlight contemporary icons and vintage signage throughout Texas. Betsy Crum is from Houston County in East Texas, while Carl Crum comes from Austin. The two met at Stephen F. Austin, where they were studying art, photography, and film. 

Their company, Sort of Cool, sells a wide variety of art prints that feature scenes from New York, Austin, Waco, Houston, San Antonio, Big Bend, Dallas, and Aggieland. Sort of Cool also features a collection of prints with inspirational quotes from the likes of Janis Joplin, Maya Angelou, Davy Crockett, and others. 

Camille Gibbons Kerr

Camille Gibbons Kerr is a Fort Worth resident who earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Texas. She spent her career as an art teacher, primarily in public high schools. She also creates her own art, working with printmaking, drawing, oil painting, watercolor, and mixed media. Nature is her primary inspiration. Gibbons Kerr strives to honor the beauty of the natural world through her colorful pieces. 

Gibbons Kerr’s collection features a variety of nature scenes with a special focus on birds and trees. She also features some still-life paintings in her collection. Her works are available for purchase through her website.
