The arrival of the holiday season heralds the return of beloved events and opportunities to enjoy brand-new ones to help you and your family makes Christmas memories. Dallas Zoo Lights
The Dallas Zoo Lights returns for a walk-through event for 2022 and is better than ever before. The event runs from Nov. 17, 2022, through Jan. 1, 2023, and operating hours are 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Advance purchase of tickets is required, and the tickets have timed entries. For non-members, ticket prices are $21 for adults and $17 for youth on premium nights and $18 for adults and $14 for youth on non-premium nights. Members of the zoo get a 20% discount on their tickets. The event runs for 40 nights, with different-themed events held every night.
Visitors get to see over a million lights strung throughout the zoo and enjoy the sight of new animal lanterns and 3D-lighted sculptures. Over a dozen brand-new photo opportunities are spread throughout the zoo. The houses of ZooNorth and Wilds of Africa get a makeover with over-the-top holiday-themed displays. Santa and his elves are ready to greet visitors at his workshop and spread holiday cheer. Kids and adults will be able to enjoy drinks and snacks as they make their way around the zoo.
Dallas Symphony Orchestra Christmas Pops
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) holds its Christmas Pops concert at the Meyerson Symphony Center with James Loh conducting. A performance is held every day between Dec. 2 and Dec. 11, 2022, except Wednesdays. Two performances are held on both Saturdays and Sundays. The event is a beloved annual tradition that features the DSO performing anthems, Christmas classics, and sing-along carols. Tickets start at $38 and go as high as $219 for a loge box. The closer you are to the stage, the more expensive the ticket.
The event is a popular one, and tickets sell out the closer it gets to the performance dates. Going to see the DSO perform its Christmas Pops event is a family tradition for many. The performances are tight and professional, as well as warm and uplifting. Each performance lasts an hour, which is perfect for families with younger children who can’t sit for long periods of time. Everyone gets to enjoy the music, be introduced to the beauty of an orchestral performance, and visit Santa in the lobby after the performance.
Dallas Arboretum: Holiday at the Arboretum
The Dallas Arboretum transforms its gardens into a Christmas wonderland full of beauty and interest. The event runs from Nov. 10 to Dec. 31, and tickets are required. You can purchase tickets online or at the entry gates. The event can be attended during the day or night, but you’ll have to purchase a separate ticket for the day and night entry. General admission ranges from $12 to $20, with discounted admission available for certain dates. An admission ticket grants access to the DeGolyer House, Christmas Village, and the 12 Days of Christmas Gazebos.
Members of the Dallas Arboretum get access to tickets for the holiday lighting ceremony on Nov. 9, 2022, and can make their way around the gardens afterward. One of the main attractions of the event is the 12 Days of Christmas Gazebos. Each gazebo features the theme of one of the 12 days of Christmas as laid out in the song. Live performers dress up in period-appropriate attire while acting and playing out the lyrics. A new exhibit, The Artistry of Faith & Culture, explores how different cultures around the world celebrate the holiday season.
Radiance! and Frozen in Frisco
Radiance! and Frozen in Frisco at Riders Field combines an ice and light show into one mind-blowing experience for kids and adults. The event begins on Nov. 18, 2022, and ends on Dec. 31, 2022. Operating hours vary from day to day, but opening hours start later in the day in order to get the most out of the lights after dark.
Ticket prices also vary depending on the day of attendance and the options you select for your visit. You can get a ticket for admission to the light show and go ice tubing, get a ticket for access to more areas of the event, or a VIP ticket that includes access to every attraction at the event.
Radiance! consists of a lighted wonderland full of gigantic yet friendly creatures, displays of Christmas scenes, and walkways that use over three million lights to create the visuals. You can grab a hot chocolate or other tasty beverage and walk through the pathways at your leisure and take advantage of stops that are designed for selfies or pictures of the whole family. The Frozen side of the event consists of a winter carnival with attractions including ice slides, games, snowball fights, and ice skating. You can even build a snowman from real snow.
